LENTIL STEW
Lentil stew is a simple, nutritious and extremely tasty dish that is quick to prepare. It is ideal for colder days, providing a richness of taste and satisfaction with every bite.
Ingredients
- 250 g of dry lentils
- 1 onion
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 stick of celery
- 2–3 carrots
- 1 parsnip
- dried meat (smoked ribs, sausage…)
- spices to taste: salt, pepper, smoked paprika, dry spices…
- 2–3 cloves of garlic
- 1 stalk of leek
- 1 green hot pepper
Preparation
- Lentil preparation:
Clean the lentil, wash it in cold water and put it in the pot where it will be cooked.
- Adding vegetables and spices:
Add finely chopped onion, carrot, parsnip, bay leaf, celery and pour water. Let it boil.
- Cooking:
Cook over moderate heat until the lentil is soft, about 45 minutes.
- Adding meat (optional):
If you use smoked meat, first boil it in water, discard the first water, wash the meat and only then add it to the stew. Add the meat to the stew 10 minutes before the lentils are cooked.
- Finishing spices:
When the lentils are cooked, add finely chopped leek, garlic and hot pepper.
Serving
Serve warm, with homemade bread. This stew is the perfect meal for cold days, providing a richness of flavor and satisfaction with every bite.
